直接称呼时用“Your Grace”(大人、夫人),间接提及时用“His(Her)Grace”。用在信封或信的开头可尊称为“His Grace the Duck of...”(公爵大人……)或“Her Grace the Duchess of...”(公爵夫人……)。 2007/7/18 Some movies and shows i loveMovies:

Dear Chris,
We wish you God's blessings on your Birthday and everyday! Trust that you are keeping well, both physically & spiritually. With love from Swansea, C, M & A as it says,
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!..."
Thank you. Pretty funny comedy from Channel 4More fun at Series 4:
Meet Mark and Jeremy, twenty-something former Dartmouth University alumni (although Jez technically never finished his degree) and slightly fucked-up denizens of Apollo House, South London.
Mark is the sensible one: a professional brogue wearer with a slightly worrying interest in World War Two. Jeremy is the loose cannon: a lazy waster with dodgy friends, who dreams of becoming a musician, but can never get his act together, or often even get up in the morning. Their lives together have taken in smoking dope in the lazer bowl toilets, affairs, possible homosexuality, rainbow rhythms, and a broader understanding of the siege of Stalingrad and now Mark seems to be about to get hitched.
Having proposed by accident to Sophie, he now faces the horror of having to actually go through with the wedding. Or will he?? And, when Jeremy’s beautiful ex "visa wife", Nancy (Rachel Blanchard), unexpectedly turns up again, how far will he go to win her back?
Also this series, Mark spends a horrific weekend with Sophie's argumentative parents, tries to get his gym instructor sacked, and also gets involved in a spot of arson. Meanwhile, Jeremy performs some "handy" work for a male pop star, does something pretty unspeakable to a dog and, worst of all, sleeps with Sophie's mother*^*... 2007/6/30 Thank you - Dido['daidou]

昨天同事送我一本Charles Dickens的英文原版《A Tale of Two Cities》,很是歡喜。
Personal tragedy, whole country's tragedy! 2007/2/10 You're Beautiful - James Blunt
2007/2/7 Pray for SwanseaParcel bomb injures DVLA worker (Wednesday, 7 February 2007, 11:34 GMT,From BBC Wales)
The attack happened in the post room shortly before 0930 GMT and is the third of its kind on driving-related companies in as many days. The bomb could confirm fears that a motorist is mounting a campaign. Home Secretary John Reid said the incidents were "worrying". A total of four people have been injured in similar attacks this week. On Tuesday, two men suffered blast wounds in the explosion at the offices of Vantis in Wokingham. And on Monday, a worker was hurt by a device at the offices of Capita, which runs London's congestion charge system.
South Wales Police said a woman had been injured in "a small letter-type explosion" at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which maintains UK-wide registers of drivers and vehicles. A spokeswoman said: "The scene where the explosion took place has been cordoned off and evacuated. "Police are speaking to the management team at the DVLA to decide if it's necessary to evacuate the rest of the building." The Welsh Ambulance Service said they were called at 0921 GMT and arrived five minutes later. Morriston NHS Trust said: "A Swansea woman was brought to the A&E department at Morriston hospital shortly after 10am following an incident at the DVLA. "She is undergoing treatment at the present time and has been assessed by a consultant. Her condition is stable and not life-threatening." The ambulance service said two other people had been treated for shock at the scene.
Police are stopping people from entering the building and the area has been cordoned off. About 4,000 people work in the DVLA offices in Swansea, but the building has not been evacuated. The incident in Swansea follows an explosion on Tuesday at the offices of an accountancy That followed a letter bomb attack the day before at the central London offices of Capita, during which a female worker received minor injuries. Home Secretary John Reid said: "Naturally, these incidents are worrying. It is important we allow police to get on with their investigation without undue speculation." Assistant Chief Constable Anton Setchell, the national coordinator for domestic extremism, is leading the investigation into the apparent letter bombing campaign.
2006/12/24 Merry Christmas and Happy ChristmasThe word merry itself arouses in us the feelings of joy and happiness associated with the festival of Christmas. Though the Christmas celebrations, as history tells us commenced from the 4th century AD, it was only in the year 1699, that the phrase Merry Christmas came to be used. An English admiral plays a significant role in the History of Merry Christmas, as it is he who used the term Merry Christmas for the first time in an informal letter in 1699. The words Merry Christmas appeared for the second time in 1843 in Charles Dickens’, "A Christmas Carol".
The term Merry Christmas is not only used by the Christians to greet each other during the festival of Christmas but by all, irrespective of class as well as religion at the time of the Christmas Festival. In the term Merry Christmas, ‘Merry’ stands for happiness while 'Christmas' meant Christ's Mass in old English. Many people use the word happy instead of merry to wish each other during the festival of Christmas. This phrase Happy Christmas gained much popularity in the 19th century, as it was used by none other than Queen Elizabeth II. Its worldwide popularity is also evident from the fact that the concluding lines of Clement Moore’s work, 'A visit from St Nicholas', written in 1823, which included the words Happy Christmas was changed to Merry Christmas in the various other editions of the book. The term Happy Christmas is primarily used by the inhabitants of Ireland and United Kingdom. Sometimes to cut it short many use the word Xmas instead of Christmas. The truth is that no other term or phrase can even wish to match the popularity of Merry Christmas. Incoming Call and Outgoing CallIncoming CallsIt has been stated that incoming telephone calls need to be dealt with efficiently to promote a good impression of the establishment, and it is of importance for the receptionist to appear warm and welcoming as well as efficient and businesslike. A welcoming smile has to be conveyed by the receptionist's voice and vocabulary, and it needs to be remembered that every minute of conversation, and the time waiting for transfer or information to be found, is costing the caller money. It is also good practice to ensure the telephone is answered by the fourth ring, holding on whilst the telephone goes unanswered, is sure to be irksome to busy callers. As soon as the telephone is answered, it is important to identify the hotel immediately so that callers know they have reached the correct number. Phrases such as 'Good morning, Fawlty Towers Hotel, may I help you?' will establish the identity of the hotel and start the call in a courteous, good mannered way. If it is necessary to leave the telephone to collect information for a caller, ensure that he is told what is causing the delay in answering his query, and how long the delay is likely to be. Sometimes a caller will prefer to ring back rather than wait for answers or for bookings to be verified. It is good business practice for the receptionist to offer to ring back with the information rather than keeping the caller holding on. Outgoing CallsAlthough the receptionist will usually deal with less outgoing than incoming calls, it is just as important to deal with these efficiently incorporating all good telephone habits and practises. The type of calls a receptionist might need to make are returning calls to prospective guests with information that has been requested. These return calls should always be made as soon as possible after the initial enquiry. If the information the caller requested is difficult to find immediately, call to advise progress so far with a promise to call again within a specified time. Then ensure that the call is made within the time stated - otherwise, the prospective guest is likely to go elsewhere! A receptionist will also need to make calls to a variety of places to book various services and leisure pursuits for hotel guests. These are very important to the guest whose enjoyment of the holiday or the smooth running of business arrangements will obviously colour their impression of the hotel and its staff. A mistake in making a simple booking by telephone - or not doing it at all - can cause repercussions on a much larger scale than might initially be thought by a receptionist. Therefore it is important that all staff involved in making calls on behalf of the hotel are trained to do so in a business-like way and to keep records of these calls. Other calls which will usually be made by a receptionist, are making enquiries at the local tourism bureau, phoning other hotels to enquire about vacancies, placing orders for hotel consumables such as stationery, requesting service visits for hotel equipment and many other day-today calls which will vary from hotel to hotel. It is good telephone practice when making any of these calls, to have all the information to hand before dialling the number. This might seem obvious, but how often do people make calls to you and then leave you holding on while they go away to get something? Care should be taken when dialling the number to ensure it is dialled correctly, wrong numbers waste time at both ends of the line. Always make a note of the name of the person you want to talk to and the extension number, and for more complicated calls, always note down the main points so that everything is covered and you do not need to call again. CURIOUS things to care in telecommunications
